One Small Promise
Train your brain with teeny, tiny steps forward.
Yesterday’s post was a celebration of the power of Action!
About tapping into the power of doing the thing to become the person who has done the thing.
But here’s the truth. Change is so darn hard. Getting into Action to create something new is absolutely easier said than done.
So today let’s examine how we can get started.
How often do we start something new and then give up because its seems too difficult to change? Often it feels like herculean effort is required to create something new.
One way to combat that feeling of overwhelm is to keep one teeny tiny promise to yourself everyday.
Start small. Pick something you can do every day and do it for 30 days straight.
This little promise can be something as simple as:
Getting up 30 min earlier
Drinking a glass of water
Walking around the block
Meditating for 5 min.
Writing one page in a journal.
Turning your phone off at 8pm
It is important that you make it small and achievable.
Because the goal is not really the promise. Yes staying hydrated, exercising and a digital detox are all tiny things with big impacts, but the power of the promise is in who you become in the process.
You become a person “WHO”.
You are training your brain to view yourself as someone who can accomplish a goal.
And you naturally start to focus on what else is possible for you.
Even if this small promise seems really insignificant, it is important to keep it up for 30 days.
Then add on a new small promise.
You will begin to trust yourself.
You will begin to see that your are capable of change.
You will learn than you can accomplish bigger goals.
Take this baby step.
Begin to change your life with One small promise.
